The Blakey Project is a collective effort of six Wisconsin jazz musicians celebrating the music of Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers. Art Blakey, known as “Bu,” was a legendary jazz drummer and bandleader whose impact on the jazz world is immeasurable. In 1954, he formed the Jazz Messengers, a group that would become one of jazz’s most influential and enduring institutions.
