Philip Nelson started playing professionally while still in high school, but after an early infatuation with Jimmy Page, he was drawn especially to jazz with a heavy side dose of horn bands, funk, R&B and blues. He has been performing in classic jazz and funky electric band settings for decades. He’s had the great fortune to play with some great local artists like John Harmon, the Jazz Orgy, the Harmon Boyz, Big Mouth and his mostly acoustic duo, Distilled Spirits.
